Calvary Link: Open Homes, Open Hearts

Calvary-Link-Good-to-be-HomeMy wife and I, like most people, lead busy lives. Most days are filled with ministry commitments, and even our weekends are full with wedding ceremonies and worship services. Throw in pastoral emergencies, which happen often, and the plate gets really full, really fast. (Did I mention we also have 3 boys?) Still, we find time to open our home because an open home means an open heart.

The Scriptures encourage us to show hospitality to one another, and to do it cheerfully (see for example, 1 Peter 4:9, and Romans 12:13). So important is the act of hospitality in the church that pastors are to lead the way. They are to "enjoy having guests in their home" (Titus 1:8, TLB). This doesn't mean pastors are the only ones showing hospitality; they are an example to everyone in the church. When we invite people into our imperfect homes and busy lives, we are saying something powerful about the gospel.

So open your homes and your hearts this summer. And have fun doing it. Get together with friends new and old. Be here EVERY Sunday when we open wide the doors of "the Lord's house." This Sunday, we eat and drink together, and we welcome a new worship leader from Kenya, who will be co-leading with Kurt and the team. Our hearts are open to you!
