Calvary Link: Our Live Strong Series Continues

calvary-link-headerRemember your creator in the days of your youth (Ecclesiastes 12.1).” That’s our text on Sunday and I’m spending the day cloistered in my study getting ready for the continuation of our Live Strong series. My heart is filled with excitement to share the God-breathed Word with you. The Word is so practical—and so powerful. We also have something very special planned for you in worship this Sunday. You will see (and hear) when you arrive!

What an awesome trip I had to Kenya—seeing the children that YOU are sponsoring at our home in Mitaboni in partnership with Kids Alive International. You may know by now that our students are embarking on an edgy adventure of their own this summer to serve orphans in Africa—and spread the gospel by word and deed. I hope you will consider supporting them by showing up for a sumptuous Spaghetti dinner after both the first and second services on Sunday. Thanks to all the parents who are working hard to help their kids raise funds for this mission!

I’m so proud to be your pastor—and can’t wait to worship with you this weekend!

For the Gospel,
Lionel

PS. I need a few “prayers” to join me tonight at Facetime at 6:30p. We need God’s help in spreading the gospel in 2012!

Good to Great
Attention Calvary Men! You are cordially invited to enjoy a cup of coffee with one of the outstanding leaders of our region, Mayor Jon Costas. Jon will be leading us in a 6-week discussion on the award-winning book Good to Great by Jim Collins. Even if you've already read the book, you won't want to miss hearing from someone who knows how to foster great leaders. This event is wide-open to the men of Calvary, and you’re encouraged to invite others to join us at Calvary at 7a on Wednesday mornings starting February 15th.

Adult Electives
Pastor Lionel shared in his vision message that we are going to be strengthening our ‘witnessing muscle’ in 2012. If you would like to learn how to share your faith in Jesus Christ with confidence, then we want to encourage you to check out Dr. Lin’s elective on Sundays, 2.12-2.26 at 9:30a in room 300. CLICK HERE for more information on adult electives.

Service Times
Beginning Sunday, March 4 our service times will be changing to 9a & 10:45a to allow time for fellowship between services and more time to get in and out of worship services.

Student Ministries
This summer 13 students and 3 adult leaders will be ministering to the Calvary sponsored orphanage in Mitaboni, Kenya. They have been prayerfully planning and preparing for the financial support it will take to allow this ministry to happen. Please consider partnering with them by attending the spaghetti dinner this Sunday, 2.12 from 10:30a-1p. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children, and can be purchased at the door. Contact Mike Bryant for more information.

30 Hour Famine is for Students (6th-12th grade) around the world, loving God and fighting hunger. It’s that simple. Every year, thousands of students unite to do Famine. They go without food for 30 hours. They learn about hunger - and then they do something about it. They raise funds to help feed and care for tens of thousands of kids all over the world. They experience hunger for themselves. Best of all? They help save lives. For more information CLICK HERE. To join in the fight and make a donation, contact Pastor Joe (joe@calvaryweb.net).

Men's Ministries
Calvary men, children, family and friends are invited to join the Band of Brothers for a night of fellowship and sports on Tuesday, 2.21! A light dinner and fellowship will be held in the McGill room at the VU Athletics Recreation Center at 6p. The game will commence at 7:05p. Please CLICK HERE for additional details.

Save the Date
Calvary will host a marriage conference on 3.16 & 3.17. This is a free event for husbands and wives who desire to use biblical principles to strengthen their marriage. Lock this weekend in your calendars - you won't want to miss it!
