Calvary Link: See You Soon

Calvary-Link-See-You-SoonWe have had an amazing time visiting our global partners! Just absolutely amazing! Calvary is now planting churches on the African continent in partnership with Nairobi Chapel, an African mega-church situated in the hustle and bustle of Kenya's capital city. What a joy it was to preach there last week! We are also saving children with Kids Alive International, working together to "take up the cause of the fatherless" (Isaiah 1.18). What a joy to see our global partners and witness the lives that are being transformed through our work together.

I can't wait to see you. In fact, I'm writing this from an airport halfway around the world, and I'm longing to be home. This Sunday, I'll be preaching on the "Joy of Contentment" as we continue our exposition of Philippians. And we will celebrate once again with the best worship team in the region (and yes, I am a little biased).

There are a few things coming up you should know about. If you have been attending Calvary for a while but haven't joined, our Starting Point class is designed just for you. Women, the IF: Gathering is intended to just bless you. And everyone, the Sevenglory concert will be a night of fun you won't want to miss.

What's New at Calvary...

Starting Point Membership Class
Become a part of our family! Starting Point is Calvary's membership class, giving information on what Calvary believes, where it is headed, and why that is important. The class is also designed to connect you with others who are considering making Calvary their home church. Starting Point begins on Sunday, 2.8, at 11:15a and continues for three weeks. Sign-up at the Guest Services Desk on Sunday or online here.

Also offered in February is our Starting Point Turbo Membership Class. The three week course is combined into one morning on Saturday, 2.28.

Nominate Someone to Lead
There is still time to nominate a candidate for our elder board to serve the needs of our growing church body. Elder candidates should be men of Godly character who are competent and experienced leaders. You are invited to prayerfully consider nominating someone you believe will provide able leadership for our church community. Nominations are open until this Friday, January 30.

IF: Valparaiso
Join us for the IF: Valparaiso simulcast at Calvary on Friday evening, 2.6, and Saturday, 2.7. This 2-day gathering brings together women from around the world to wrestle with the essential questions: IF God is real... THEN what? What purpose does He have for me? IF: Gatherings are about facing those questions head-on and grappling through the hows and whys of living out the answers. Click here to purchase your ticket!

Sevenglory in Concert
What if you could change a life with a $10 concert ticket? On Friday, 2.13 at 7p, rock band Sevenglory with special guest Red Umbrella presents An Evening of Hope and Melody, a benefit concert for Oasis Home in Guatemala. Advance tickets ($10) are on sale now through 2.12 at and in the church foyer on Sunday for cash or check purchases. Oasis is a residential haven for girls who have been abused or forced into child labor (or both). It's a place for them to heal and experience love and security.

Rooted: Raising Kids in a Broken World
For the month of February, Calvary's weekly disciple-building forum will be working through practical steps and application for Raising Kids in a Broken World. Join Calvary's Family Ministries Pastor, Josh Reasoner, each Sunday for a discussion and an extended Q&A. If you think that you might be a parent someday, have one on the way, are fresh out of the delivery room, are knee deep in adolescents, or are enjoying a do-over with your grandkids...we would love for you to join in on the conversation and help us connect the gospel to the family! Get in on a Rooted discussion in room 403 from 9:30a-11a.
