Calvary Link: Together

Calvary-Link-Good-to-be-HomeIt is amazing how much more we can accomplish when we work together. In early 2014, we set some pretty big goals. We wanted to reach more people with the gospel. We wanted to plant another church on the African continent. We wanted to invest in young leaders. We wanted to reach more students. We wanted to "adopt" another home for children with our ministry partners, Kids Alive International.

Together, we are NOW doing these things! Together we are working, praying, and giving; and together God is doing amazing things through us. If you want to know where your giving is going, check out our Year End Video to see just how important your generosity is! Let's keep changing lives--TOGETHER.

This Sunday is the dramatic conclusion to Love Song! You do NOT want to miss it. I'm in the study, working hard and praying for God to really bless us.

Give a Goat; Change a Life
Calvary is working with our local ministry partner Kids Alive to provide resources to children in need around the globe. You can give a gift of food, medicine, livestock, or other necessities to a Kids Alive family this Christmas season. We love how Kids Alive describes the assortment of items they have on offer: Gifts that make a powerful impact, spreading hope and joy! Pick up a gift catalog and order form from the Guest Services desk or go online to kidsalive.org/giftcatalog to choose a meaningful and life-changing gift.

Generous Giving
Thanks to your generous giving this year, our church will be able to meet many needs for families in our community! In partnership with Aldi Foods, we are again supplying grocery gift cards. We want to be sure that our neighbors and those within our church receive the aid they need to provide for their families, especially at this time of year. If you or someone you know is in need this holiday season, please contact the church office 219-462-4026 or Lori Coslet at lori@calvaryweb.net.

Women's Christmas Lunch
Start the Christmas season off right at the Women's Ministries Christmas Lunch! Invite a friend and join us on Saturday, 12.6, from 11a to 1p at Valparaiso University. In addition to good food and sweet fellowship, we'll be treated to an uplifting message from international speaker and author, Sue Heimer. Tickets are $20 and are available online. Tickets must be purchased in advance. We still need Table Hostesses to decorate tables and greet guests. If you can help, contact the event director, Lynette Green, at lynette.green@comcast.net.

Men's Christmas Dinner
Join the men of Calvary Church for our annual Christmas Dinner! We'll meet at Kelsey's Steakhouse on Thursday, 12.4, at 7pm for a meal and a great time of celebration together. Catch up with friends and bring a few along. Please RSVP here.

Student Ministries
Student Ministries is partnering with Cru to pack Boxes of Love in Chicago. High school students will go this Saturday, 11.22. We will pack boxes with grocery items so that families in need can make a Thanksgiving meal. In the afternoon, we will travel around the city for some fun! For more info and a list of items we're collecting, visit the HS Event page.

HangTime in the Gym
Meet up with Calvary friends on Sunday, 12.7, at HangTime! Drop in after the 1st or 2nd worship service for a snack, some coffee, and conversation. The women's Guatemala mission team will have a table with photos from their early November trip. Stop by to ask questions and find out how Calvary is investing in the girls of Guatemala.

Host Families Needed
When leaders from other parts of the country and the globe visit us here at Calvary, they become a part of our church community for however short a time. Families within the church are invited to extend a welcome and provide a sense of belonging by hosting our ministry partners, global leaders, and the future leaders who are part of our internship program. Hospitality to traveling believers is a service rooted in Scripture! Length of stay varies from a few days, a week, 3 months, and some remain for up to a year. If you would like more information on hosting or would like to sign-up for host family opportunities in the future, please contact emily@calvaryweb.net.

Rooted Discipleship Class
In November, Calvary's weekly disciple-building forum has been exploring the topics and themes coming up in the Love Song sermon series. Join Pastor Jon Nitta each Sunday for a discussion on a solid biblical theology of human sexuality and an extended Q&A. Looking to plant yourself deeper in the faith? Get in on a Rooted discussion in room 403 from 9:30a-11a.
