Calvary Link: Where Has The Time Gone?

calvary-link-header“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” – A prayer of Moses, Psalm 90.12, ESV

As my family attempts to soak in every last minute of the remaining days of summer, and as the first day of school is coming rapidly upon us, I find myself wondering yet again: Where has the time gone? You have likely experienced the swiftness of a season of life and wondered too, where has the time gone?

As our days of summer draw to a close, would you join me in praying that God would help us make the most of the time He has given us to steward…to live for Him…to be intentional about spending our time in ways that honor Him, in ways that show the world that we value Him most, in ways that further the Gospel (especially in our own homes), and in ways that allow Him to bring refreshment to our souls.

Here are a few ways that you might consider “numbering your days” as we round third base and summer comes to a close at Calvary Church:

Take advantage of our Awana Program: Register your kids to participate, and/or register yourself to Work for Christ in this midweek children’s ministry program that takes place on Wednesday nights during the school year, beginning on Sept. 5th. Registration opens this Sunday in the gym between services!

Sign up and commit to a Covenant Group: Walk together in community and grow in Christ with a small group of believers. Don’t miss the orientation class starting this Sunday in Room 300 during both services. Signups are open for the next 2 weeks!

Come together for Worship: Worship the Lord and be changed by His Word this fall as our Senior Pastor, Lionel Young, returns from Sabbatical with a renewed passion for Calvary Church to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. And be on the lookout for the “Calvary Live, Mighty Fortress” album release, which is anticipated early this fall. Worship doesn’t end after service on Sunday!

Be sure to join us for Worship THIS Sunday at 9a or 10:45a as we round out our summer lineup of speakers. Pastor Mark Lackey will be bringing us a timely message on prayer from the gospel of Matthew, chapter 6.

Hope you have an awesome week…Sunday will be here before we know it!

What's new at Calvary...

Covenant Group Registration
Covenant Small Group Ministry is the primary vehicle for discipleship and care within the Calvary family. Joining a small group is essential to getting “plugged in”. Open registration for the next session is Sunday, 8.19-26. If you are interested in registering for a Covenant Group then you are strongly encouraged to attend one of the four orientation classes offered in room 300 during the worship services on 8.19 & 26.

Children's Ministries
We need you! Will you join us in building up the next generation for Christ? We are looking for men and women of all ages who are excited to partner with us and influence the spiritual journey of the kids in our church. What will you do in this coming year to make a difference in the lives of the kids in our church? To learn about the many opportunities to get involved please click here or contact Director of Children’s Ministries, Victoria Evans-Peasley.

Kids ages 3 through 6th grade are invited to attend our AWANA program which begins Wednesday, 9.5, from 6p-7:45p! AWANA teaches kids to love God through scripture memorization, teaching, worship, and more. To avoid long lines the first night of club, you may pre-register your kids at the AWANA tables in the gym from 8:30-9a or 10:15-10:45a this Sunday, 8.19! To learn more about the Awana Clubs, click here.

Reliant & Connect Student Ministries
Students & parents come together on Sunday, 8.26 from 6-8p for a clear picture of what the school year in student ministries will look like! This will be the official welcome for 6th graders to our Connect Student Ministries and 9th graders to our Reliant Student Ministries. There will be food, music, videos, games, time in the Word, and lots of information on how to get involved! Mark your calendars now for a night you won't want to miss!

All students grades 6th through 12th are invited to join us at our Labor Day Games Sunday, 9.2 from 6-9p! We will have some of your favorite crazy games from the past and also some exciting new ones. This is a great opportunity for you to bring your friends and have a great time. Be sure to wear something that you won’t be sad if they get wet or grimy.

Sabbatical Return Celebration
Sunday, August 26 is the return celebration for our senior pastor! Join us for worship at 9a or 10:45a. After each service, the Youngs will be in the gym to enjoy fellowship time with the church family. Come help us give them a very warm welcome home!

Featured Missionary
This month's featured missionary is the Mayo family. See what the Mayos are up to and commit to praying for them as our church focuses its prayer efforts on their ministry this month.

Work for Christ
Every Sunday is a fresh opportunity to experience God alongside your Calvary Church family. We believe that Sunday mornings are enhanced when Christ-followers make service part of their worship. Check out our serving opportunities and consider Working for Christ this fall!
