Calvary Link: Your Generosity

By: Calvary Church Last Updated: December 16, 2016

Calvary-Link-Set-FreeA few days ago, one of our faithful members handed me a very large check for the Even More project and then said, "I want to add another $25,000 to my commitment. God did something unexpected for me, and I just want to continue to be generous." I was stunned. And grateful. I still tear up thinking about the single mom who walked up to me after church and said, "You prayed for me to find a job. I don't have much, but I want to give $100 to help change lives forever." Talk about making a pastor cry!

I could tell one story after another about how your generosity has touched me this year. I am so very, very thankful. And as we come to the end of another year, I want to ask you to continue your generosity so that we can finish the year strong. I know it's a lot for a pastor to ask in one year—to commit to Even More while you also give to the everyday work of changing lives forever at Calvary. But I am asking. I’m asking with a grateful heart and leaving the results to God. As I said on Sunday, everything that comes in over our annual budget will go right to Gifts of Hope because that’s our way of continuing to change lives in Valparaiso and the world.

What a year we have had! Thank you for all you have done (and are doing) to change lives forever. I'm really looking forward to our final Sunday of Advent this weekend. And my anticipation is building for all four of our services on December 24. It's going to be an all-day affair of enjoying Christ together.
