Cancer Survivors Invited to Relay For Life of Greater Valparaiso, Survivors Dinner Reception

2014-Valpo-Relay-Survivor-dinnerThe American Cancer Society urges cancer survivors from the Valparaiso area to register for the Relay For Life of Greater Valparaiso Survivors Lap at 4:15 p.m. on May 17. Each cancer survivor will receive a t-shirt to wear and torch to carry while walking the track. A dinner reception for survivors and one of their caregivers will immediately follow the Survivors Lap.

Relay For Life is a fun, overnight event at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 1600 Roosevelt Road in Valparaiso, that celebrates the lives of those who have survived cancer. For the newly diagnosed, Relay offers an opportunity to meet someone who has survived the same type of cancer. For the cancer patient in treatment, Relay provides an opportunity to share with others. For the long-term survivor, Relay brings recognition of their struggle. The involvement of local cancer survivors is proof of the progress that has been made in improving cancer survival rates and the quality of life following cancer treatment.

There is no cost for survivors to participate in the Relay or attend the Survivors Dinner Reception. Survivors should register online at www.relayforlife.org/valpoin or call Kim Rushmore at (219) 707-6594 before May 14th to reserve seating at the dinner, with registration from 2-4 p.m. at the event.
