Debbie-ByermanCentury 21 Alliance Group recently welcomed Debbie Byerman to the Valparaiso-based realty team. Byerman is a Northwest Indiana native who, after receiving her degree from Purdue North Central, has spent years working in finance.

Byerman’s interest in pursuing a career in real estate goes back many years and in 2016 she decided to go one step further by getting her license and joining the industry, and the team at Century 21.

“I’ve always had a huge interest in real estate,” Byerman said. “Going back more than 10 years ago, I’ve been interested in getting into real estate so I decided to broaden my horizons, expand my knowledge and pursue a career as a broker.”

A conversation with a friend about getting their broker’s license is ultimately what led Byerman to take action and sign up for real estate classes.

“A friend called me and said that he was interested in taking real estate classes,” Byerman said. “I said, ‘you know that’s funny, I’ve been thinking about it for like 10 years.’ So we started that day!”

Byerman started taking real estate classes in April and finished in July. She then passed the test and became a licensed broker in September.

“It was hard,” said Byerman of taking the Indiana real estate broker license exam. “The test was definitely challenging and, in my class, they had said that the test used to be a lot easier until they made the change that said everyone had to become a broker. 77% of people passed it the first time before and now it’s somewhere around 29%.”

As a new broker, Byerman is looking forward to meeting and working with everyone at Century 21 Alliance Group, getting her name out there, and building up her business in the coming months.

“Customer Service has always been one of my top priorities,” Byerman noted. “I am very passionate about helping others and I’m looking forward to helping guide my clients through the entire process. My main goal is to help people meet their real estate goals.”

In speaking about helping clients who are looking to buy or sell their home, Byerman said, “it’s one of the biggest decisions that people have to make and I am looking forward to using my knowledge and expertise to help people sell or find their ideal home within our community.”

As Byerman is taking her initial steps into the business, she’s taking advantage of all of the training and resources available to her through Century 21 to build up connections and establish relationships in Northwest Indiana.
