Challenger Learning Center Plans February Second Saturday Events

Challenger-Learning-CenterProgram to feature mini mission, planetarium and laser light show

The Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana will be hosting its Second Saturday Family Science Program on Saturday, Feb. 8, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The event’s cost is $15 per person and will include a mini mission, a laser light show and a planetarium show.

The planetarium show, Two Small Pieces of Glass and South Shore Skies, will educate attendees on the telescope and how its invention has helped expand our understanding of the universe. Attendees will also learn what to look for in South Shore night skies. The laser light show will feature 30 minutes of classic songs by The Beatles.

Those not wishing to participate in the mini mission may purchase tickets to either the laser light show or planetarium show at $5 for adults or $3 for children. A special package including both shows is $8 for adults and $5 for children.

Individual planetarium shows begin at 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Individual laser shows begin at 3:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the Challenger Learning Center will host a special Valentine’s Day themed couple’s mission on Friday, Feb. 14. beginning at 5:30 p.m. The mission, “Fly Your Sweetie to the Moon,” will have couples test their compatibility as they work together as a team to complete a mission to the moon. Once the mission is complete, couples will enjoy delicious desserts while they watch a laser light show as they wind down from their lunar landing. Cost for the couple’s mission is $40 per couple.
