Chicago Street Theatre Announces Auditions for Teen Show

Five girls and five boys ages 13-17 are sought for Chicago Street Theatre’s annual teen show.

“Red Licorice” by Carole Tippit will be on stage Feb. 24 – March 3, 2012. Auditions are set for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, and at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at the theatre, located at 154 W. Chicago St. in downtown Valparaiso.

Directed by CST’s Director of Education Lisa Formosa-Parmigiano, the play will include an opportunity for those cast to also participate in creating an “ensemble band” that will play live musical interludes between scenes, along with a theme song.

The performance will highlight a series of well written monologues realized by students in which the player interacts with one or more imagined characters. Each piece gives a very true-to-life perspective from kids.

For those interested in participating behind the scenes, apprentice positions through CST’s Mentorship Program also are available in the areas of costuming, lighting, stage managing, sound, set decorating, and box office/ushering. All those interested in being an apprentice must be at least 12 years of age.
