The Gender and Women's Studies program at Indiana University Northwest will host the Celebrating Our Students Conference on Thursday, March 25, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Library Conference Center. The guest speaker for this event will be acclaimed children's author Maiya Williams, who will discuss children's fantasy and humor in her 1 p.m. presentation.
The event begins with a continental breakfast in the library, followed by a student panel at 10 a.m. Lunch will be provided at noon, followed by Williams' presentation at 1 p.m. The author of such popular books as "The Golden Hour" will also participate in a more intimate discussion session with students in the Rev. Dr. Robert Lowery Study Area on the library's second floor beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Williams, a Los Angeles resident, has published three books for children, and she has also worked as a scriptwriter for various sitcoms. She was an editor of Harvard’s National Lampoon.
