Church Releases Live Worship Album

Calvary-A-Mighty-FortressCalvary Church of Valparaiso released Mighty Fortress, its first worship album, on November 18. The album was recorded live on Sunday mornings and produced through the church’s in-house studio. The studio is a collaborative venture with 7Spin Music.

Mighty Fortress is a collection of songs that we sing on a weekly basis,” said Kurt Felsman, Director of Worship. “Singing is a vital part of our worship experience and these songs are a sample of what it’s like to be at a Calvary service on Sunday.” Among the 12 contemporary worship songs are Calvary-originals “Mighty Fortress” and “Life to Life.” Felsman, who is also the lead singer of Christian rock band Sevenglory, wrote the former with band-mate and fellow Calvary member Gabe Johannes. The pair collaborated with Nashville-based songwriter Matt Armstrong on “Life to Life.”

Musicians featured on the album are all part of the Calvary Church community and include Valparaiso mayor Jon Costas as well as a third artist from Sevenglory, Caleb Johannes. The Mighty Fortress CD ($10) is sold through the Calvary Church office located at 1325 Evans Ave. The album will be available from iTunes in December. “At Calvary, we believe that there is no greater joy to be found than when a life is turned vertical in praise to God,” said Felsman. “We desire to share that truth with everyone.”
