Sign up now to get help with raking
The City of Valparaiso’s Public Works Department is coordinating a little Leaf Relief this fall. They’ve assembled a group of volunteers who will help seniors or other neighbors with leaf raking on Oct. 27. “We know that raking can be a challenge for some of our neighbors, so we’d like to offer a little help,” said Tony Reid, Assistant Director for Valparaiso Public Works.
Volunteers will bring their own rakes and will not need to trouble residents for washroom facilities or other assistance. “We have the capacity to help about 13 households, so call early if you’re in need. If we have a good response, we’ll work on expanding the program next year,” said Reid. Those needing assistance with leaf raking should call Christine Hisick at City Hall, 462-1161.
