In Celebration of Coastal Awareness Month the City of Michigan City is presenting A Conference on the Environment on June 5, 2014 at the Blue Chip Hotel Casino and Spa from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM central time. Blue Chip Hotel Casino and Spa is located at 777 Blue Chip Drive Michigan City, IN 46360.

In addition to the conference, the City of Michigan City will be hosting 2 free concerts featuring the Banana Slugs String Band. The Banana Slugs String Band is a group of lovable musicians, songwriters, and educators who blend music, theater, puppetry, and audience participation to create a lively learning environment.
The concerts will be held at Millennium Park on the Shores of Lake Michigan on Thursday June 5th and Friday June 6th at 6:30 PM central time.
Also on June 20, 21, and 22, 2014 the City of Michigan City will be hosting the W.G. Jackson in Trail Creek Harbor, Michigan City Indiana.
The W. G. Jackson serves researchers and educational groups from her berth at ports of call along Lake Michigan. Her home is the Lake Michigan Center, Grand Valley State University, Muskegon, Michigan.
The W. G. Jackson was launched in 1996 and has a Length of 65 feet, a Beam of 20 feet, a Draft of 5 feet, and is powered by twin Detroit 6V-92T Engines.
The W. G. Jackson has been funded by the U.S.E.P.A Great Lakes National Program Office and she has reached 33 ports of call in Lake Michigan.
