City of Valparaiso Seeks Nominations for Good Neighbor Award

City of Valparaiso Seeks Nominations for Good Neighbor Award

The City of Valparaiso is seeking nominations for its annual Good Neighbor Recognition,  launched in 2020 to highlight an individual who demonstrates exemplary commitment to their neighborhood and the greater community through volunteerism and service. “This Good  Neighbor Award is one way we can recognize people who are engaged in Valparaiso and doing extraordinary things in our community,” said Mayor Matt Murphy. Last year’s Good Neighbor  Award was presented to Susie Hord.

Members of the community are invited to nominate individuals who demonstrate their volunteerism and commitment to community by building a brighter future for Valparaiso. “We encourage people to nominate special people of all ages, interests and walks of life,” said  Maggie Clifton, Valparaiso’s Community Engagement Director who coordinates the award. The only qualification is that nominees must reside and primarily perform their volunteer service within the City of Valparaiso. Nominations are due by Nov. 4 to be considered for the 2022  award.

The Good Neighbor Award nomination form is available online on the Community Engagement page at Valpo.us. A committee of volunteers will review nominations and select a recipient to be recognized by Mayor Murphy at the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Central Park Plaza on Nov. 26.  To learn more, contact Maggie Clifton, Community Engagement Director at City Hall, 219-462- 1161 or mclifton@valpo.us.
