Class of 1963 Donates $1210 to Valpo Schools Foundation

Class-of-1963-Raises-Money-VSFAt their recently held 50th reunion, the Valparaiso High School Class of 1963 raised $1,210 for the Valpo Schools Foundation. The idea stemmed out of a "class" bank account that had a bit more money in it than necessary, a desire to honor our classmates that have passed away, and a challenge that I received from a member of the class of 1960. At their 50th reunion, they too asked for donations to the Valpo Schools Foundation. A special scholarship was given in their name the following spring.

The challenge to our class (1963) was to raise more than they had. Fortunately, my classmates were generous with their contributions and we were able to win the challenge!

Why the Valpo Schools Foundation? The natural response is that we all graduated from VHS, so this commonality made VSF the logical place for the collected funds. Many of us who still live in Valpo support the Foundation individually through donations, as well as participation at Foundation fundraisers.

I am issuing a challenge to other VHS reunions to raise more funds for the Valpo Schools Foundation than we "old folks" have done this year.
