Community Art Banners on City Hall

The Valparaiso Community Festival and Events Group recently held the first Winter Dazzle, a special event featuring ice carving, ice skating, and specials from local businesses. There was also a Community Art project that took place, an idea from Brenda Magnetti and her rTrail team.

A local artist, Regi Hofferth, designed two banners, a mural type piece, focused on the community of Valparaiso. Any citizen of Valparaiso who wanted to get involved was able to partake in painting the banner, allowing them to make their mark. Digital Graphic Solutions reproduced the paintings on the banner material. Regi, along with several VU students affiliated with rTrail, volunteered their time and talents to help support and create the final product. The banners are 18 feet long and are now hanging in front of Valparaiso City Hall, hung by Justin and his partner from the City of Valparaiso.

Thank you to Tina St. Aubin, Kathy McGuire Lyons, and all of the VCFE group volunteers for putting on the Winter Dazzle. Also thanks to Brenda Magnetti Erickson for coordinating the art project.

Cool event, cool people, and a nice warm banner to bring our thoughts away from it still being cool outside.
