The Caring Place, Inc. would like to recognize and congratulate our Board President, Joanne Urschel, who has been named "Volunteer Of The Year" by The Porter County Community Foundation.
Joanne donates her time not only to The Caring Place, but to Impact Porter County, Prevent Child Abuse Porter County, and The Porter County Museum. She was recently honored for her dedication at the Community Fundraising Breakfast.
Joanne is a native of Valparaiso and holds degrees in psychology. Her Bachelor’s Degree is from Valparaiso University, Master’s Degree from Roosevelt University and Ph. D. from Indiana State University, with an internship at Danville Illinois Veteran’s Administration Hospital. She has taught psychology and gender studies at Indiana University Northwest and Purdue University North Central. Joanne is married to Daniel Urschel and has two children and four grandchildren.
