Valpo volleyball junior libero Rylee Cookerly (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) represented the Brown and Gold on the MVC All-Tournament Team, announced on Saturday following the tournament’s conclusion. Cookerly earned the honor after posting match-high dig totals in both of Valpo’s tournament matches.
Cookerly helped lead Valpo to its opening-round five-set victory over Bradley on Thanksgiving evening, leading all players with a 33-dig effort in the back row. Her 33 digs were tied for eighth-most in a single match in MVC Tournament history, while she led Valpo as it held the Braves to .133 hitting and posted 108 digs, also eighth-most in MVC Tournament history.
Cookerly followed with an 18-dig performance in the semifinals against regular season champion UNI, tying for match-high honors in that contest as well. For the tournament, the junior averaged 5.67 digs/set over Valpo’s two contests to finish the year with 667 total digs, ninth-most in a single season in program history.
