Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce Presents The Corn Roast

Corn-RoastFriday, June 15th and Saturday, June 16th, 2012, Hometown Festival Days kick-off with the Corn Roast in downtown Crown Point, Indiana. Friday hours are 4pm-11pm and Saturday’s hours are Noon-11pm. The Beer Garden is open Friday 4:00pm-10:30pm and Saturday Noon-10:30pm.

New this year is a Corn-on-the-Cob Eating Contest, which will take place on the Main Street Stage on Saturday at 2:00pm. Registration is $1.00 per person and will take place on Saturday from Noon until 2:00pm near the Main Street Stage.

Also new this year is a “Cooking with Corn” Recipe Contest, taking place Saturday on the Main Street Stage at 1:00pm. To register for the contest, or for more details, please call the Chamber office at 219.663.1800. There is no charge to enter.

There will be plenty of fun for children at the Kid’s Zone on Joliet Street! This year the children’s play area will include a bounce house and slide, Five Star DJ & Karaoke Interactive Music Party, games and prizes, an inflatable obstacle course, a rock climbing wall and a harness bungee jump. The Kid Zone hours are Friday, 4:00pm-9:00pm and Saturday Noon-9:00pm. There is a nominal charge for the Kid’s Zone activities.

Friday night on the Main Street Stage from 7:30-10:30pm, Mr. Funnyman, a favorite Chicago land cover band, will provide the musical entertainment. On Saturday night from 7:30pm-10:30pm The Retropolitans, a variety cover band that plays everyone’s favorite songs will take the Main Street Stage. Saturday from 3:00pm-8:00pm, The “Z” Road Crew will do a live remote.

In addition to the delicious Shriner’s roasted corn there will be twenty food vendors such as Bubba Q Bar-B-Que, Carriage Court Pizza, Crown Town Grill, Jill’s Sweets and Treats, Lucrezia Ristorante, Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream, Pierogi Square, and TJ Maloney’s.
