Crown Point High School Thespians Help Feed the Needy

cp-thespians-feed-needySt. Clare Health Clinic staff members unpack a donation of dozens of bags of canned items, a portion of which are shown here, that were collected by the Crown Point High School Theater Department and brought to the clinic Nov. 24, following four, recent performances of Charlotte’s Web that were presented to some 650 third-graders in the city’s Community School Corp.

Kit Degenhart, theater director, said the goods were requested for admission to the performances and that the number collected far exceeded expectations.

Shown passing the items to the clinic’s food pantry shelves are (from left) Jennifer Holok, clinic case manager; Jessica Azbill, medical assistant; and Julie Mallers, family nurse practitioner and clinic manager. Established in 1996, St. Clare, which is under the auspices of Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Crown Point, provides free primary health care and other services for area residents who fall within established income guidelines, are uninsured and are not eligible for government assistance.

Donations may be brought to the clinic, 1121 S. Indiana Ave., between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. For more information, call (219) 663-2160.
