Crusaders Prepare for Inaugural Southland Bowling League Championship

VU-Crusaders-Prepare-for-Inaugural-Southland-Bowling-League-ChampionshipThe Valparaiso bowling team heads to Houston, Texas this weekend for the inaugural Southland Bowling League Championship as the tournament’s fifth seed in the eight-team field. The Crusaders enter the tournament ranked 16th nationally in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association poll, moving up one spot from the last poll.

Valpo gained a spot in the latest iteration of the national top-20 coaches poll, maintaining its streak of being ranked in every poll since the program’s inception. The Crusaders started the year ranked 15th and had dropped to 17th before moving up one spot in Wednesday’s release.

Meanwhile, the Crusaders head off to the inaugural Southland Bowling League Championship after being introduced as one of eight charter members of the league in January. The double-elimination tournament bracket includes all eight league members, seeded based on NCAA rankings. Fifth-seeded Valparaiso opens tournament play Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. CT against fourth-seeded Sam Houston State.
