Chicago Street Theatre's 'One Night Jam' concert series welcomes classic rock icon Derek St. Holmes for a solo acoustic show on Sunday afternoon, March 2nd.
Known mostly for his work with Ted Nugent, St. Holmes is the voice (and co-writer) behind such massive hits as "Hey, Baby," "Just What The Doctor Ordered," and "Stranglehold" among others.
Derek has worked with many musicians through the years, writing and playing with many of his peers. When Brad Whitford left Aerosmith, he and Derek formed the Whitford/St. Holmes band and released and album and toured.
St. Holmes has written and released several solo albums over the years in addition to playing with Nugent.
"I met Derek several years ago when Jimi Jamison, lead singer of Survivor, introduced us at a benefit concert. It was a brief meeting, but he impressed me as a very personable guy in addition to being a monster guitar player," said series producer Paul Braun.
"It turns out that Derek's manager is also a friend of mine, so we discussed the possibility of Derek playing an acoustic show for CST during a lull in touring, and he agreed. This is a very rare thing - most of the time he's either on tour with Nugent or playing with his own band," according to Braun.
Sunday's show will be a mixture of music from various parts of his career. St. Holmes is very entertaining, and very engaging for the audience.
"It's not often that you get to see a true rock legend in a setting like One Night Jam," said Paul.
"CST's auditorium is intimate and comfortable, and you get a direct connection to Derek and he feels that right back. This is a man with plenty of road stories, and the hits to go with them," Braun said.
The opening artist is Regional favorite Robert Rolfe Feddersen, who has played CST before.
Also, the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana will be raffling off a guitar signed by St. Holmes, The Ides of March, Mike Reno of Loverboy and Kelly Keagy of Night Ranger.
