On Monday morning Culver's of Valparaiso's team surprised the Ideas in Motion staff by bringing custard to their CEO and Founder, Chris Mahlmann. The generous gesture was to notify Chris that he has been nominated as "Culver's Custard Hero," a nationwide campaign to recognize those who impact the community and individual's lives.
With this campaign, Culver's is offering communities a chance to nominate someone they believe is a hero. Of those nominated are volunteer workers, police officers, social workers, and much more. The Valparaiso Culver's staff commented that Chris was selected because of his dedication to reporting good news and always making sure the community pulls together to share, or even create good news stories.
"We are very appreciative for everything he does for the community and the people in it. He brings good people and good news together," said Marilyn Christman, Valparaiso Culver's General Manager. "I know because of him we've developed relationships with people that we would have otherwise never met or heard of without the stories you and your staff have written about. That's why we presented him with this honor today."
In the Valparaiso location, there are 4 other nominations. Each will be surprised with custard and a notification at their home or workplace. These will occur once a week until all notifications have been made.
"We have several nominees in the community. A lot of them we have met because of Chris. It just made sense to have him be the very first nominee," said Christman.
This is the second year for Culver's to run the Custard Hero nominations. This year is on a much larger scale with a major focus on social media promotion.
To nominate a hero you know go to www.Culvers.com or stop in at Valparaiso Culver's to enter. Each Culver's location can have an unlimited number of nominations. Every hero that is selected to become a "Custard Hero" will receive $500 in Culver’s Gift Cards and a $500 donation to a charity of their choice.
