As summer winds down and the air begins to cool, the frozen custard business does anything but slow down. In fact, there’s plenty of new seasonal flavors to be discovered and enjoyed during your fall and winter visits to Culver’s.

Flavors such as apple-based creations, pumpkin, mint chocolate, maple, and more.

“We have five core flavors that we have on-hand all year round, and these are spun to match the season. People are creatures of habit and tend to gravitate towards their usual order, but there is so much to try,” said Wendy Gates, owner of Culver’s of Valparaiso.

Over the summer months, community members enjoyed Creamy Lemon Crumble in June, Midnight Toffee in July, and Dulce De Leche Cheesecake in August. But this month, customers will cozy up with the new comforting flavor, Devil’s Food Cake.

The Devil’s Food Cake frozen custard is made up of dark chocolate fresh frozen custard and swirled with devil’s food cake. The flavor also includes novelty chocolate which is a liquid sauce that hardens once it hits the custard. This mouth-watering flavor just recently launched on September 10, and Gates has high expectations for the flavor’s success.

“It’s something new and different to try. There’s something so different about custard itself. The consistency of custard is very creamy and thick compared to a traditional ice cream product because it has egg yolk mixed in,” Gates explained. “The nice thing is that there’s always something for everyone.”

Aside from the featured flavor, the staff at the Valparaiso Culver’s makes a unique flavor fresh daily.

“There’s always something new to try, and this new flavor gives customers something unique to try that they won’t be able to find at other traditional ice cream shops,” Gates said. “If you like it, great. If you don’t, there are so many other options to keep trying.”

Culver’s is adamant about handing out free samples for customers looking to try something new and supports those who are willing to explore a new flavor.
