Deep Cuts: The Best Investment is Free

Deep Cuts: The Best Investment is Free

I have had to do a lot of thinking lately, and a lot of these thoughts have come with realizations that have been difficult to accept. I will spare you the minute details of these situations and realizations but they all boil down to the concept that life is to be lived and not survived until you die.

On the surface that may seem like “go live life” means go do something crazy like climb a mountain, or take your car across Route 66. But to me, “go live life” means go live like you mean it, and that means whatever it means to you.

We had the Good Life Awards yesterday, and it was our biggest yet filled with a lot of examples of people who were living life. There were people from all walks of life there, many who built their way to where they were from the ground up and had been through a lot more than I have in life.

Others had it more fortunate than myself, but never let the convenience of their unlimited resources to the good life stop them from working and hard doing good themselves.

And in the end, it doesn’t matter what you came from or where you have been, because being a good person or having a better attitude about your life doesn’t cost a dollar.

It costs nothing to change your attitude or your mindset on your situation. Not one damn dollar. However, changing your mindset takes a personal investment you have to be willing to make.

You have to be willing to not spend your life thinking negatively; not spend it trying to scrounge up enough happiness to eat for a day and make the decisions to feast for a lifetime. They are tough and the investment requires you looking past the easiness of surviving the day to worry about the next, but if you’re willing to put in the work, it’s worth it.

Best part about this investment, though? You have an unlimited supply of good to invest into yourself. Your mind is like the Franklin Mint of good thoughts if you allow that machine to turn on; you are powerful beyond belief if you allow yourself that power. You can spend every damn hour of every damn day building the investment of you if you’re willing to put it in your life’s bank.

As for me? I’m just now getting to the bank door it feels like, but it feels like my pockets are getting a little fatter every day.

Invest in you; invest in good; invest in the beauty of life.

Deep Cuts, out.
