Defense Leads Valpo Boys Basketball to Win Over South Bend Clay

The Valparaiso High School boys basketball team won Saturday night’s big game over the visiting South Bend Clay Colonials 57-40.

The Vikings held South Bend Clay to just 16 first-half points, while scoring 32 themselves. That impressive start was more than enough to keep the Colonials at bay, as the Vikings shot 50% (9-for-18) from three point land in the win.

Valpo was led by John Clymer’s 20 points (18 coming off three pointers), and Jerrick Suiter posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Vikings played great team ball on offense as well, totaling 16 assists between eight players.
