Donations Sought to Recover $3,500 Stolen from Boy Scout Troop 920

Boy-Scouts-of-America-LogoDuring this year's Popcorn Festival, Valpo Boy Scout Troop 920 of the LaSalle Council of Boy Scouts of America was selling steamed corn at the corner of Washington and Lincolnway as a fundraiser. Unfortunately, the $3,500 that they had raised was stolen while packing up for the day.

At a meeting Monday evening, the troop met to discuss what happened and used the setback as a learning tool in character development for the boys. "Things happen and you have to keep going," said Erika Dutcher, Dunes Moraine District Executive. "Teaching the boys how to forgive, but learn a lesson and move on, helped each of us learn from the experience."

There has already been many online that have voiced a desire to help and Erika said they welcome the community rallying around them. "Troop 920 appreciates the outpouring of the support and is grateful for the generosity from the community." They would like the resources to go to the La Salle Council group so they do the most good across the area.

Checks can be made out to La Salle Council - Boys Scouts and they can be sent to:
