Duneland Unit Joins National “Kick Butts Day” Initiative

BGC-Kickbutts-2012Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County-Duneland Unit joined thousands of youth across the country who took part in Kick Butts Day, a nationwide initiative that makes kids leaders in the effort to stop youth tobacco use. Club members took part in a number of activities recognizing the day including: cleaning up cigarette butts around Chesterton Middle School and the neighborhood surrounding the Club, signed a tobacco-free pledge and signed a banner taking a stand against tobacco.

Throughout the year, the Club's VOICE group takes part in a variety of activities to protect kids from tobacco, including working with elected officials to develop policies that reduce youth tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke and educating their peers about the dangers of tobacco use. VOICE is the youth led anti-tobacco movement in Indiana which strives to educate and prevent young Hoosiers from becoming smokers.
