Eating Well Thanks to Blackbird Cafe

Every week, our staff meeting is privileged to utilize blackbird café’s excellent catering services. I’d venture to say we don’t eat as well the rest of the week as we do during that lunch! Their catering services make lunch convenient; with a large menu of tasty items made from scratch to choose from, you will never be bored with your food choice!

If you need more convincing on why blackbird’s catering is the best, check out the reviews of some of our favorite menu items!

Brett Fuller: Mozzarella Panini
Balsamic marinated tomatoes, pesto, and fresh mozzarella cheese
I’ve tried a dozen or so items on the blackbird café menu and I have to say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the mozzarella panini is the best item I’ve had. I may be prone to exaggeration, but I think it’s the best thing you can order in town that doesn’t involve a heaping helping of steak. It’s light without leaving you hungry and tastes great, perfect for lunch or dinner. If you’re a caprese salad fan like me, try this.”

Tim Moran: Pastrami Reuben
Pastrami, lacey swiss, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing, grilled on rye bread
"The best item on the Blackbird Cafe menu is the Pastrami Reuben. Of all the places in Indiana, the sauerkraut is best at Blackbird. In fact, it is the best place to have something with sauerkraut outside of New York City. The thousand island dressing on the rye bread makes the reuben even more delicious. The next best item? It's the mozarella panini."

Maureen Davey: Chicken Salad Wrap
Chicken salad, romaine tomatoes, cucumber and walnuts on your choice of wraps
My favorite food from blackbird café is the chicken salad wrap. The chicken salad is always fresh and delicious, and blackbird combines it with walnuts for the perfect crunch, and grapes for a touch of sweetness. It’s tough to pass up! My favorite drink is a black cup of Highlander Grog coffee. Highlander Grog has a strong, smooth taste. It’s the perfect thing to wake me up in the morning. When my morning starts with one of those, I know it’s already a good day.”

Karin Mick: BLT with a Bite
Bacon, chipotle mayo, avocado, lettuce, and tomato on a pretzel roll
The flavors in the BLT with a bite make my mouth water just thinking about this sandwich. Not a fan of extremely spicy foods, the slight kick of the chipotle mayo isn’t overwhelming but adds so much interest to this sandwich. Plus, the avocado helps to soothe any inflammation from the mayo! And who doesn’t love a pretzel roll? If you are looking for lots of flavor in your lunch, choose this sandwich. I love to pair it with a Thai coffee, made with sweetened condensed milk, espresso, and half and half, served over ice!

Natalie Mahlmann: Grilled Chicken with Peppers
Grilled chicken breast, chipotle mayo, swiss, bacon, arugula, and roasted red pepper on a pretzel roll
My favorite is the chicken with peppers sandwich. I love it because it is a warm sandwich with great flavor, and it is something unique which gets me out of my normal cold sandwich routine!

Liz Powers: BLT with a Bite
Bacon, chipotle mayo, avocado, lettuce, and tomato on a pretzel roll
My favorite is the BLT with a bite sandwich. They use the perfect amount of everything! It typically comes on a pretzel roll, which is delicious, but now that I am gluten-free, they make it on my own gluten-free bread, and it is still great! I definitely recommend this sandwich to anyone that is looking to spice up their lunch a little bit!

Chris Mahlmann: Smoothie, Kona Coffee, and Everything Bagel
Double fisted drinking with a strawberry banana smoothie with protein, a large Kona coffee, and an everything bagel with peanut butter. All kinds of flavor and two jolts to start my day and I always feel at home.”

Caitlin Vanlaningham: Garden Salad
Mixed greens with carrots, cucumber, black olives, grape tomatoes, bacon, croutons
I like all of the salads but the garden salad the most because the veggies are fresh and crunchy, it’s made to order the way I like it, and it’s just huge. And a hazelnut coffee with one of their monster cookies is my go-to treat.”
