Extra Police Patrols on Wednesday Night and throughout Thanksgiving Weekend

valpopoliceLaw enforcement officers throughout Porter County, including Valparaiso Police, will be working extra patrols Wednesday night prior to Thanksgiving and the weekend following it. Officers will be searching for aggressive driving, speeding motorists, seat belt violations and impaired drivers.

Historically the night prior to Thanksgiving (tomorrow night) has been a popular night for the consumption of alcoholic beverages and socializing. Police strongly encourage all individuals to drink responsibly if they plan to participate in this activity.

Funding for extra patrols are paid for through the Governor's Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving. Officers from accross the state are currently working a blitz titled "Safe Family Travels" which continues through the holiday weekend. Other local officers will be working impaired driving patrols sponsored by the Porter County Drunk Driving Task Force.
