Featured 2014 Fall 2014 at Lubeznik Center for the Arts

rotDLubeznik Center for the Arts has an array of extraordinary classes for the fall. Four new classes are being offered for the first time - among them a unique collection of classes and workshops for children and adults.

A new visual arts class is being offered for the first time at LCA called Beading: Netting Technique. Instructor Elaine Aquino will teach students "bead netting", a simple technique that creates a look reminiscent of Medieval embellishments. Many classes are back by demand. In Abstract Painting, Jay Zerbe, will introduce students to various methodologies of abstract art in conjunction with techniques in mixed media and acrylic paint. Art Appreciation returns with Gregg Hertzlieb, curator of the Valparasio University-Brauer Museum of Art. For photo enthusiasts, Adult Photography, with LCA's very own Natalie Mills, is back this fall. Students will learn how to use digital camera settings for maximum effect.

Workshops for this season include a blend of new and popular offerings. Creativity Workshop, taught by Michelle Boardman, is a new workshop that will help those seeking new inspiration. Students will explore creativity from a psychological, social and scientific approach using videos, interviews, discussions and hands-on experiments. Returning workshops include Cocktail Hats & High Tea taught by Amanda Joyner. Students will learn how to create a one-of-a-kind cocktail hat for the holidays while enjoying treats and tea from Bowler Man Confections. Masters & Merlot returns this fall, with two class offerings! Grab a friend and join Dori Huber for an evening of paint, wine, and snacks.

New classes for young artists include Cookies & Canvas, also taught by Dori Huber. Students ages 7 - 11 will learn the basics of color mixing, paint application and composition to create their own masterpieces as they enjoy sweet treats. Another new offering, Teen Jewelry Workshop, will engage students in learning how to create a wrap bracelet. The popular, Drawing for Teens, returns with Bill Cavalier teaching students the drawing fundamentals of shape, form and proportion while practicing the techniques of pencil, charcoal and ink.
