Festival of Magic brings the Wizarding World to Valpo and Chesterton

Have you ever wanted to travel to a Wizarding World full of magic? Well now you can, right here in Valparaiso and Chesterton! Running Vines Winery and Aftermath Cidery & Winery are bringing Hogwarts right to your doorstep from July 29 to July 31, with their fifth annual Festival of Magic.

There will be a range of activities that you and your family can participate in during this weekend. Make sure to bring your walking shoes! The Festival of Magic is holding a scavenger hunt, where you can travel to Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, King’s Cross, the Leaky Barrel, and more! Each of these locations will have beverages for the witches and wizards of age, as well as refreshments for the kids.

With each ticket, you will receive your Marauder's Map, which you will follow to complete the scavenger hunt. Some of these locations will be: The Leaky Cauldron, Chesterton Toys, Gilbert's Candy & Confections, The Cellar of Secrets, The Boarding School, Aster & Grey, Designer Desserts, Valpo Events, Porter County Public Library, Three Wicked Apples featuring the IN Coast, and FLUID Coffee Roasters.

Start your wizarding adventure on Friday, July 29 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Aftermath with a potion making class. After class, you can attend the Owl Conservation and Education Workshop with Humane Indiana Wildlife at Running Vines from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. After you’re done with all the wizarding fun, stay for the live music. Running Vines will be hosting Gypsy Sole, while Aftermath will have Arrested Sounds.

Saturday, July 30, will be the most eventful day of all three. The festival begins at 10 a.m. and will be quickly followed by potion making classes at Running Vines from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. After that, enjoy the Owls of Humane Indiana Class at Running Vines until 7 p.m.

If you are interested in some more drinks and your group is of age, Saturday night includes a 21+ bar crawl from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., with Arrested Sounds DJing! If there are underage witches and wizards in your group, enjoy the all ages Yule Ball at Aftermath, with The Erly performing.

The fun doesn’t stop on Saturday night, though. Come on Sunday, July 31, to finish out the weekend strong. Sunday will have potion making classes from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Running Vines, with the scavenger hunt as well.

Make sure to set aside time during these days to visit The Cellar of Secrets Photo Booth, located at Aftermath Cidery, to get a photo of the whole family.

Tickets are only $10 if you purchase before the festival, and they will be $15 purchased at the door. Your ticket is only valid for the day you choose, but you will have all day to enjoy the festivities. Choose your start location and let the magic take you from there!
