Filled to the Brim with Appreciation

Thank-youWritten by Jane Scupham, principal

“Thank You” hardly seems adequate to say to all those who made our Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week such a tremendous success! The cast of people who were involved in the planning, shopping, prepping, and execution of the week’s events were numerous, yet so many worked quietly behind the scenes making it seamlessly happen. It was obvious to all the teachers and staff that the planning of the fun and celebrations was well-conceived from the get-go. Our head room mom, Maggie Cobble, and our Home and School representative, Gina Pinkie, managed to arrange a week of activities that began with a breakfast spread with something for each ones taste and ended with a skit and monogrammed tote bags filled with goodies given out to all.

On Tuesday the entire staff was treated to a delicious lunch away from school at Pikk’s with a menu just for us and a visit from the chef. (Thank you, Mr. LoDuca!) Talk about a treat! It was difficult to pull ourselves away from the tables and good fellowship, but we headed back to work with full stomachs and brimming hearts.

We arrived on Wednesday to a school decorated with paper flowers adorning the walls with greetings and well-wishes from students and families. It was an up-lifting way to begin the day and to see and be able to read the messages throughout the rest of the week.

Pampering was on the schedule for Thursday with manicures and massages by some more dedicated mothers who donated their time and talents. There’s nothing like a good manicure and relaxing massage to put a smile on a girl’s face.

The wonderful week’s events were brought to a close on Friday with the afternoon performance of a skit written by Pat Bengert, Dee Gruszka and Domenica Hartman taking the teachers back in time to when they were students. The 8th grade students did a fantastic job portraying all the teachers and staff (and even Father Joe!) in the skit. I’m not sure who laughed more— the teachers or the students!

Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
