First International Exhibit of Wood Art at Walnut Ink Gallery

Walnut-Ink-GalleryWalnut Ink Gallery is pleased to present their first international exhibition of wood art, entitled The 3 Dimensions of Woodturning. The artists in this international exhibit are professional, most with work in respected museum, corporate and private collections. For many, their work is rooted in an uncommonly strong connection to their medium; woodturning at this level requires deep practical knowledge of tools, techniques and an amazing diversity of woods, as well as artistic talent and dedication to the creative process, but also, ultimately, an intimate understanding and respect for the essence of wood itself.

The works in this exhibition were created with the use of the lathe, but most of the objects also have a carving, painting, staining, burning, or other form of decorative embellishment to a degree not typically seen within the craft of woodturning. Most of the works are sculptural without reference to the traditional turned container, representing the intersection of fine art, craft and design.

The 3 Dimensions of Woodturning will showcase contemporary works from Binh Pho, Emmett Kerrigan, Marilyn Campbell, Alan Carter, John Jordan, Hayley Smith, Carole Floate, Larry Jensen, Clay Foster and Chris Grohs.
