The Boys & Girls Club of Valparaiso recently held their first annual flag football all-star game against the Valparaiso University Men's football team.
The event was held at VU's Brown Field and was the culmination of a 7 week summer flag football program. Coaches invited players who they felt displayed the best attendance, sportsmanship, and team spirit throughout the season. The team was comprised of eleven 9-13 year olds who competed admirably against VU college athletes twice their size and three times their age!
VU coaches acted as officials, and score was kept on the field's big electronic scoreboard. Head Coach Stacy Adams arranged for the Pop Warner cheerleaders to be there to provide shouts of encouragement besides lining up the players and coaches. With a little help from the officiating, and big help from the VU players, the final score was Boys & Girls Club 29 and VU 26!
