Flanagin’s Bulk Mail Service a Successful Family Business Through and Through

Flanagin's Bulk Mail Service is a family owned and operated business established in 1996. Owner, Donna Flanagin, and her two daughters, Erica and Monica, take pride and care in providing first class service and first-rate savings to their customers.

The goal at Flanagin’s Bulk Mail Service is to provide customers with bulk mail solutions to help achieve a successful mailing campaign at the best possible rates. This is accomplished through their expertise in United States Postal Service technical knowledge, database management, and excellent customer service.

“What is bulk mail?” you might ask. While many people may have heard the term “bulk mail” before, very few actually know the purposes and benefits of bulk mail. Bulk mail is a class of mail for sending out large numbers of identical items at a reduced rate. Whenever a business or non-profit organization needs to disperse information to a large number of people, they use bulk mail services to help in the distribution process.

Many printing firms offer this as an additional service, but Flanagin's Bulk Mail Service specializes in the preparation and distribution of bulk mail for many customers over a wide geographic area.

Donna Flanagin first came to the world of bulk mail when she worked with a secretarial service. One customer in particular was a printer who wanted somebody to produce the bulk mail for him, and so he asked Donna to research and start producing the bulk mail for him. Through this experience, Donna found that she wanted to continue performing this service, so she got her first customer and started her own business.

“She’s not your average woman,” daughter Monica Flanagin Decker exclaimed about her mother. “She gets a program and figures it out. No one taught her this. No one taught her how to do bulk mailing; she figured it out all by herself.”

Flanagin’s Bulk Mail Service first started out in the Flanagin family room, where young Monica and sister Erica would push mail through machines to help their mother.

“We want to help customers save as much money as they possibly can,” Donna Flanagin stressed when speaking of her business. “Many people don’t know that even when you do everything yourself, it still costs more money than if you were to use bulk mail services.”

For example, while the prices of stamps jump from forty-six to forty-nine cents, Flanagin’s postage increase will only be a penny. At Flanagin’s the price to mail a first-class letter is twenty-eight cents for the average business and sixteen cents for non-profit organizations. Last year alone, Flanagin’s Bulk Mail Service was able to save their customers $921,192.80.

“You save more by paying us labor and postage than if you were to put the stamp on yourself. We do all the work and you still save on postage,” Monica explained.

The post office has also recently promoted a new program: Every Door Direct Mail. Every Door Direct Mail was started by the post office to increase their mail volume and make it easier for the average business to do mailing without having to use a service like Flanagin’s. However, Every Door Direct Mail has a size requirement. So, if these businesses choose to mail something that is outside those dimensions, the price will increase as the dimensions do. On the other hand, Flanagin’s Bulk Mail Service will ship a business’ bulk mail for a lower, fixed cost, no matter what the mail’s dimensions.

“The post office is continually changing rules and regulations, which makes it difficult for the average business to do their own bulk mailing. Whereas, we do this for a living, so it’s our job to keep on top of these rules changing all the time,” Donna said.

Flanagin’s serves a wide geographical area, stretching over various states, and they have recently acquired a new client in the United Kingdom.

“Because they have a certain amount of a customer base in the US, they found Flanagin’s online. While, out-of-country clients are not the norm, we do have clients all across the United States. We will serve anyone who needs us,” Donna stated.

“I couldn’t be the person I am without this business and having my family so close,” Monica Flanagin Decker said as her daughters popped into the office from their playroom. “There are so many things that I do, and I couldn’t do it without their help, and I’m so thankful for that.

Showing the true tenets of a family owned and operated business, Monica’s little daughter Carly exclaimed, “We love working. We work every day!” Choosing to help mom, Aunt Erica, and grandma in the office instead of enjoying their special playroom upstairs, these little girls already show the special care and attention so important in the Flanagin’s business.

Now, three generations of Flanagins are at your service, to help you with all your bulk mailing needs.
