Fleet Feet Sports Provides Walking Shoes for OE Clients

Fleet-Feet-Shoes-to-OENoelle Thomas Desso, Manager of Fleet Feet Sports in Schererville visited Opportunity Enterprises on July 28 to fit OE’s clients participating in its Walking Buddies program for a pair of free walking shoes.

The Walking Buddies program, which began in 2007, allows clients to train throughout the summer, and participate in the Popcorn Panic Walk in September each year. This year, about 12 clients will be walking on Popcorn Fest day, September 10.

This donation means so much to our clients, most of whom cannot afford to purchase high quality walking shoes for themselves,” says Walking Buddies Program Coordinator Cathy Kuchenmeister. “The clients have been so excited about their new shoes!

Our goal at Fleet Feet is to educate and inspire people to get into better health through fitness, starting with a properly fitted pair of athletic shoes,” shares Thomas Desso. “Anytime we can do this while also giving back to the community is so important. This partnership with the Walking Buddies program at OE allows us to support one of the best non-profit organizations in Northwest Indiana. We are thrilled to be able to do it.”
