Former Valparaiso Mayor Bryce Billings Honored by Boys & Girls Clubs of America

BGC-Honors-Bryce-BillingsBryce Billings, past Mayor of Valparaiso, was honored with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) Silver Medallion Award at the 12th Annual Steak & Burger Dinner by BGCA President & CEO, Roxanne Spillett “for outstanding service to boys and girls”.

While Mayor of Valparaiso, Billings contacted Boys & Girls Clubs of America 40 years ago and launched what is now Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County. The organization has grown from serving 200 members the first year to 5,000 currently in four Clubs and eight Kidstop locations. In accepting the national award Billings stated that of all his accomplishments the “best thing I ever did was to start the Boys Club.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County provides children ages 5 to 18 with programs that focus on academic success, good character and citizenship and healthy lifestyles.
