Four VHS Student-Athletes Awarded 2011 Kellen Mogck Memorial Scholarships

Each year, the Kellen Mogck Memorial Foundation awards Valparaiso High School student-athletes participating in track and field or football based on their performance on the field and in the classroom.

This year, three track scholarships were awarded to Sarah Wallace ($1500), Blaney Keough ($1500), and Jay Doane ($750), with one football scholarship being awarded to Daniel Hummel ($750).

The Kellen Mogck Foundation was established in memory of 2003 Valparaiso High School graduate Kellen Mogck, who tragically died in an automobile accident in 2004. Kellen Mogck was an outstanding athlete and student at both VHS and DePauw University. In his first year at DePauw on an ROTC scholarship, Kellen played on the varsity football team and excelled in his studies.

Kellen’s friends and family established the foundation to endow scholarships to honor current Valparaiso High School student athletes who like Kellen, demonstrate the determination and hard work needed to succeed in both athletics and academics. Over $38,000 has been awarded to Valparaiso High School students in Kellen’s memory over the last six years.

The 7th Annual Kellen Mogck Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing will be held this year on Monday, August 1st at Aberdeen Golf Course and will raise assets for future scholarships.
