Franciscan Alliance conducted blessing and dedication programs in May for a recently opened WorkingWell site at 6615 S. Boundary Road, Portage, and a WorkingWell and Express Care location at 2590 Morthland Drive, Valparaiso.
Those operations are in Franciscan HealtheACCESS Clinics, which this year began operations under the auspices of Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Michigan City and offer a wide range of health services. The clinics were acquired last year and include another WorkingWell and Express Care site at 3325 Willowcreek Road, Portage.
A new WorkingWell Rensselaer location, which was not part of those acquisitions, recently opened at 919 E. Grace St. Blessings and dedications are scheduled for the other Portage facility and the Rensselaer location.
Speaking at the recent programs were Sister Jane Marie Klein, chairperson of the Franciscan Alliance Board of Trustees; Gene Diamond, Franciscan Alliance Northern Indiana Region chief executive officer; and James Callaghan, M.D., Franciscan St. Anthony Health president. The Rev. Joe Pottakaran, a chaplain at Franciscan St. Anthony Health, officiated, praying and blessing with holy water each room of the buildings.
The speakers praised staff members who provide clinic services and talked of how meeting the needs of others is a hallmark of Franciscan Alliance’s mission.
“We bless and dedicate our new locations to exemplify our mission to reach out to those we serve. We can’t cure everyone, but we can help heal them,” Diamond said.
Added Klein, “We are called to joyful service - to help bring joy to our patients as much as possible, during difficulties. We heal mind, body and spirit. Patients will leave feeling better physically and hopefully, emotionally. You are making a tremendous contribution to the people we are privileged to serve.”
Callaghan commended the work the staffs provide and the variety of services offered.
“With the proximity of industry and the variety of businesses in our local communities, we are able to provide an invaluable service, close by, for workers.”
