Children and their families are invited to join in the fun at the free Safe Kids Day on Saturday, April 6 at the Dean & Barbara White Southlake YMCA.
The interactive event will include a variety of activities along with educational booths with information about keeping kids safe, healthy and happy. Families will learn more about bike safety, child passenger safety, stranger danger, dental care, home safety, CPR, first aid, pet safety, medication safety, the Franciscan Health Prenatal Assistance Program, safe sleeping, breast feeding, water safety, YMCA summer camps and more.
Franciscan Physician Network Pediatric Medicine will also be on hand with an “Ask the Pediatrician” table to address parent questions and concerns.
Kids can visit with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee from the “Transformers” series (both presented by TAG Entertainment) as well as the Gary Southshore RailCats mascot Rusty the Railcat and the Chick-fil-A cow mascot. Face painting and balloon twisting will also be available. Attendees will receive an entry for giveaway drawings.
Safe Kids Day is a project of Safe Kids Northwest Indiana in partnership with sponsors Franciscan Health Crown Point, the Dean & Barbara White YMCA, CareSource, Cleveland-Cliffs, Community Partners for Child Safety, the Crown Point Community Foundation, Geminus Corporation and Victory for Kids.
The event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dean & Barbara White Southlake YMCA, 100 W. Burrell Drive in Crown Point. Attendees should use the west entrance.
