Also known as the Doctor of the Year award, the honor is presented on behalf of nurses to physicians who exhibit teamwork, cooperation and demonstrate Franciscan values in their dealings with the staff.

Dr. Harris said it was “a really great honor to be recognized by the people you work with.” He added, “We spend a lot of time, energy and effort to make sure the best-quality patient care is put forth. This is a real honor; it’s a great day.” Dr. Harris said he uses a conservative approach and individualized patient care. “All patients have different needs and expectations. It’s about establishing a good relationship with them and ultimately establish goals and working toward them.” Also shown is Sister Aline Shultz, hospital chief operating officer, who also congratulated Dr. Harris.
