Frederickson Named Academic Support Coordinator

The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics has expanded its academic support department with the hiring of Grace Frederickson as Academic Support Coordinator, as announced by Associate Director of Athletics for Academic Services Liz Jarnigan.

Frederickson arrived on Valpo’s campus in August 2021, spending the last year as an academic services intern before her recent promotion to a full-time role. She helps manage eligibility, organization, time management and academic support for student-athletes while serving as a liaison between coaches, professors, advisors and student-athletes.

“I really enjoyed my time this past year as an academic services intern, so I am pleased to continue my role full time,” Frederickson said. “I’ve loved this University since I was a kid, so getting to be here and work in the Department of Athletics is a dream.”

Frederickson’s experience prior to Valpo includes working with the Governor’s Scholar Program in Danville, Ky. and with the Murray State University baseball program as an operations intern. She graduated with a master’s degree in sport management from Liberty University in May 2021 after completing her bachelor’s degree in organizational communication at Murray State University in December 2019.

“Through her hard work and commitment as an intern in the department last year, Grace has become a valuable member of the Valpo student-athlete academic support program,” Jarnigan said. “She is highly respected by the student-athletes and coaches with whom she works. I am thrilled that she is continuing on with us in our newly created Academic Support Coordinator position.”
