The Opportunity Enterprises’ Early Intervention Program, All About Kids (AAK), will be offering free developmental screenings once per month at their 3101 Evans Ave. office in Valparaiso. The screenings are scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. on the following Fridays: September 23, October 21, November 18, and December 16. The free screenings are for children from birth to three years of age.
“A child's learning and development occur most rapidly from birth to 3 years of age,” explained Sally Gaff, All About Kids Director. “The earlier a child who has been experiencing a delay in their development gets services, the better the chances of bringing that child within a normal range of development.”
Children who have a disability, a diagnosed developmental delay, or who are biologically at risk might be eligible for All About Kids Early Intervention services.
“Screenings can identify children who have missed developmental milestones like crawling, walking, talking, and interacting socially within an appropriate monthly age range from birth to three years of age,” AAK Director Sally Gaff said.
AAK therapists provide developmental therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and family training. If further evaluation is needed, families will be referred to Northwest Indiana First Steps.
