Funeral Plans Announced for U.S Army SPC. James Butz

SPC-James-ButzFuneral arrangements have been set for U.S. Army SPC James Butz of Porter Indiana. Jim was killed September 28th in Afghanistan while rushing to provide medical assistance to fellow service men that had been wounded.

Jim’s body will be returning home on Saturday with a hero’s procession that will proceed through Porter and Chesterton concluding at White Love Funeral Home in Chesterton.

The procession will begin after the 11 am arrival at the Porter County Airport on State Road 49 at US 30, go northbound on 49 into Chesterton to U.S. 20, there it will turn westbound into Porter to Beam Street. In Porter, the procession will continue east on Beam Street to Wagner Road where it will head north to Indiana Street. From Indiana Street, the motorcade will head east to Francis Street and then proceed south on Francis Street into Chesterton.

Once in Chesterton, Francis Street turns into 15th Street. The procession will continue to Broadway Street where it will head east to Calumet Avenue, then proceed south to Porter Avenue where it will turn west to 2nd Street. The procession will proceed south on 2nd Street to White Love Funeral Home at 525 S. 2nd St.

Individuals are strongly encouraged to show their support along the procession route. Individuals along the procession route are asked to lower their flags to half staff in honor of US Army SPC James Butz.

Visitation for Jim will be on Monday October 10th from 1pm to 8pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church located at 2050 W. 1100N in Chesterton. The funeral will be on Tuesday October 11th, starting at 11 a.m. also at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial to follow immediately after the funeral at Chesterton Cemetery. . Family members prefer any memorial gift in honor of Jim be made as a donation to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
