This week's question: How to eat healthy in the summertime?

Danny G.: The same way you eat healthier all of the time: eat better quality food. The reason people struggle with this is because they either A. don't believe that healthy food can taste good or B. don't want to detach themselves from bad foods that they like.

Ask-Danny-Diet-Exercise-2Lean meats, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, and an appropriate number of whole grain carbs for your level of exercise will take you further than any diet plan or fad pill ever will.

Some of these healthy options can be found at a local farmers market. Shop at Portage Community Farmers Market, Chesterton's European Market or Valparaiso Farmers Market. For recipe ideas spend some time on the Internet. There are some GREAT recipes out there for cooking with basic ingredients, even if you don't have much skill in the kitchen.

A little research and a little planning go a long way with your diet, but once you have the hang of it and know of some recipes you like AND once you experience the difference with how much better you feel you'll NEVER go back to a poor diet!
