Womans-Club-Cover-Artist-2013The GFWC Chesterton Woman's Club 62nd annual Art Show will open Sunday, June 9, and continue through June 24 at the Chesterton Art Center. Wendy Marciniak, this year's cover artist for the CWC Art Show program, is a lifelong Chesterton resident.

She is a graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago with degrees in Commercial Art and Watercolor Painting. She studied watercolor with Irving Shapiro, AWS, while a student at the American Academy. She has also studied with many well known local artists, as well as participating in mixed media workshops all over the country.

Marciniak has worked in the commercial art field as a graphic designer, and most recently was the publicist for the Chesterton Art Center. She currently volunteers with projects and events there. Wendy has co-chaired the Chesterton Art Fair, is chairman of this year's ArTour, and has been a docent at the Art Center for numerous children's groups that visit the Art Center.

Marciniak has taught encaustic painting, collage, and jewelry classes around the region. Wendy now enjoys spending her time making jewelry, painting in pastels, and creating mixed media art, clothing, and accessories.

"It was an honor and a privilege to be this year's cover artist," said Marciniak. "I love that the Woman's Club celebrates and supports local artists, and has done so for 62 years. That's why I chose the theme of this year's show to be "Artful Visions", because the Woman's Club had a vision 62 years ago. It also promotes the visions of local artists."
