Girl Scouts Help with Goodwill “Bag It” Campaign

Girl-Scouts-Goodwill-2012Junior Girl Scout troop 30091 at Flint Lake Elementary School recently participated in the Goodwill “Bag It” Campaign on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012. Each group that participated was asked to collect and donate 15 bags of clothing, books, and knick knacks. These energetic Junior Girl Scouts managed to surpass that goal by filling up 32 bags and boxes.

The donations were made at the Goodwill store on the corner of Calumet Ave. and Wall St. in Valparaiso. Pictured left to right are Junior Girl Scouts Mary Sutton, Samantha Kazmierczak, Lili Maynard, Priscilla Mejia, Ashten Montrosse, Talyn Watkins, and Melody Jimmersen. Troop members who also collected items for this service project but were not available for the photo are Robyn Furst, Jade Tibbetts, and Taneya Lyle.

Celebrating 100 years of girl power, Girl Scouts USA is the largest volunteer organization for girls and women in the world. Started by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912 in Savannah, Georgia with just 12 girls, Girl Scouting today has millions of members in big cities and small towns all over the world.
