Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana Learn from Engineering Pros

Engineering-Girl-Scouts-2013-4150 girls participate in interactive event

On Monday, February 17, approximately 125 second to sixth grade girls from the Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana Girl Scouts will be introduced to opportunities in engineering in a fun and engaging way by NIPSCO female engineers during National Engineers Week. Another 25 young daughters of NiSource employees also will participate.

The event is hosted by NIPSCO and being organized by NiSource Inc.’s Developing and Advancing Women at NiSource (DAWN) women’s affinity group.

The four-hour event is part of the company’s efforts to help build the next generation of female leaders, support local communities and provide opportunities for local students interested in STEM-related (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers.

Activities from the day will include:

  • Introduction to and discussions around NIPSCO’s various engineering functions
  • An engineering skills challenge for teams of Girl Scouts and NIPSCO employees
